Welcome back, thank you so much for joining me for this episode of the Akashic musings Podcast. Today we're gonna be talking about chronic illness, and chronic illness or chronic patterns can show up in the physical, they can show up in the emotional, they can also show up in the cognitive, which really presents as confusion or doubt, or really just questioning yourself, right. So chronic means two years or more for adults. And one year or more for adolescents, if there's any kind of symptom like anxiety, or depression or pain, or
2:23
some kind of physical symptom that's showing up in your body, it could be shortness of breath, it could be I already mentioned pain, it could be nausea, right? Anything that shows up consistently, for that period of time is considered chronic. Okay. And one thing I can tell you for sure, through my own experience with chronic illness, my own experience with chronic anxiety, and being a therapist for almost 20 years, is that if you have something chronic going on, it has a lot deeper layers and a deeper source than just what you can interact with on the surface, through talking through journaling through understanding yourself, okay? That really is a conscious process. It's a process that occurs in our minds. And although it helps us understand ourselves, it's truly still only scratching the surface, it's still only the top layer, and you need to go a lot deeper, because chronic issues have a root in either your ancestry past lives, or your souls origin point. So it's really interesting to start to explore this because chronic illness sucks, chronic patterns suck, they can be very frustrating. What happens is we feel like we're hitting our heads against a wall, because we're doing all the things in the 3d that we think we're meant to do that we're supposed to do to get better, right. And then we only get so far and it keeps returning. So chronic can also mean that you don't have something constant, but that it's coming up in cyclical form, okay, but that this cyclical experience has occurred for two years or more, or one year or more if you're an adolescent. So
4:06
it doesn't mean that you can kind of throw out this concept and say that it's not chronic, because it kind of comes and goes, Okay, that's very normal. And that's part of the human experience. We are human beings after all, which means that our emotions are gonna go up and down, the average person has 21 mood changes per day, right? And that's the average person. So we can stay in those emotions by holding on to them by perseverating on them, and you know, not turning toward them and processing them in the way that we're meant to and then they can become chronic, okay? So we need to realize that as human beings, we are going to go up and down and even once we heal and recover, we are going to have our good days and we are going to have our days or moments when we're not feeling at our best. So there is a point of acceptance here and understanding that yes, we are going to have some ups and downs and we don't want to completely
5:00
Get rid of that because our souls did decide to incarnate in this human body to have this experience of polarity of duality, right? What is polarity? What is duality? It's having those experiences that are polarizing those extremes, where you can feel this extreme joy, this extreme passion. And then this extreme anger or this extreme rage or upset, right. And this is what we signed up for as souls. And the reason our soul signed up for this is different for each one of us. But regardless, it made this choice, because it was meant to learn certain lessons in this lifetime, and it knew that it would be able to accomplish and fulfill its purpose through this lifetime. Okay, so we do want to honor it and accept it. And that brings me to another point around these chronic patterns. Some people say, Well, I have to heal this and they're desperate to heal it. And they say, I just got to get rid of this. When you approach it with that perspective, you're not going to have as much clarity, or as much surrender to what needs to unfold to help you heal. Because really, what you need to do is accept and realize that your purpose for this lifetime is what it is, right? It is what it is. And we can find more out about that in the Akashic Records. And as you dive further into your own transcendental meditation, and understand your soul blueprint, okay? But prior to that, it's just being able to sit back and observe what's coming into my field, what's unfolding in my life, in my physical body, in my thoughts in my emotions, and allow them to be your guide, allow them to show you allow your energy to show you where you're meant to be interacting on any given day, where you're meant to be putting your energy, your focus in your intention, what you're supposed to be putting, you're really pouring your soul in your heart into, because you know, you're gonna get a good return on your energetic investment. One of the things that I learned early on with chronic illness was this concept of the spoon theory. So I don't know how many of you have heard of this, but The Spoon Theory is about, okay, you wake up every day, and you have a certain number of spoons. So let's say you have 12 spoons in the morning, okay, and one spoon could be spent by getting your butt out of bed, brushing your teeth and go into the bathroom. Another spoon could be creating your breakfast,
7:23
a third spoon could be eating your breakfast. And then you need to be aware of how many spoons you have in any given day. And where you're spending your energy, because you want to make sure that you save some spoons, for when your kids get off the bus, and they're coming home. And if you've spent all 12 of your spoons before they get off the bus, I can tell you, you're not going to have the greatest night. Right? And I think this is a very, very important concept. When you're starting out with understanding chronic illness of any form. This could even be chronic panic attacks or chronic depression, right? Where are you putting your energy, it just helps you start practicing. Being conscious of where you're spending your spoons where you're spending your energy, I do really like to think of this as putting your energy into the bank of the universe, and what is the return on the energetic investment that you're getting back from the universe. So be very conscious of where you put your spoons, okay? Because you want to save it for not just those things that might feel obligatory to you, you might be sitting here thinking, Oh, well, I don't really want to interact with my kids when they get off the bus because they've been a pain in the butt lately. I don't want to deal with it. Right? What even if you don't desire it, I want you to save spoons for what you do desire. Okay, so there are, let's face it, there are some things in this lifetime, that we do need to do, like pay our bills, right? And eat, drink water. So there are some things that you might feel resistant to as a human that are part of being human. Okay. And so in those situations, it's about how do I make a ritual around this? Or how do I shift my mindset around this, or create an experience that makes it more enjoyable, so that I desire it. I'll give you an example of this. I take so many supplements, because I'm really not a big fan of medication. And I do really appreciate and believe in the natural way of healing. And I'm getting better and better at that every single day of my life, which I'm super proud of. But I saw I took a bunch of supplements. And there was a time when I would be filling my little supplement holder, because then I could remember what I was taking on each day. Right? And as I was every time I would sit down to fill this holder or I would finish up the last section for the week. I'd be like, Oh crap, I have to refill this thing. It was so
10:00
Sure, and it pissed me off. And it was just so annoying. And so what I did was, you know what, I get to enjoy this, this is what I call loving myself forward, I'm actually doing myself a huge favor and making the rest of the week super easy for me so that I don't have to think. And I'm, this is a very self loving experience for myself. And so I shifted that mindset wise, I also shifted into my heart space to really feel into what it feels like to love myself and do myself a favor, so that when I go to take my supplements each day, I can feel grateful for myself for doing this for me. Okay, so what I did was I was like, Well, when I do this, I'm going to get myself a snack, I'm gonna get myself a cup of tea, I'm going to turn on my favorite music and rock out and know that this is my 1015 minutes to be able to love myself forward. And I'll tell you, it never bothers me at all anymore. Because I shifted the vibration around it. And that's an example of how we can shift our vibration around things. So another way of talking about chronic illness in this capacity, is how do we shift our vibration around chronic illness? Right? So it's funny because I have gone through so many phases of grief around having chronic illness, of denial, which is a stage of grief,
11:22
of anger of, I'm totally fine, this is fine, right. And I do firmly believe that I have the ability to heal beyond what doctors understand beyond what even I understand at this point in time. Because every single one of us is a snowflake, we all have a unique energetic blueprint and a unique cellular structure and interaction within our physical bodies that we might not necessarily understand all the time, right. And so it's really cool. Because we get to allow ourselves to really move through this part of the process. And you need to because, you know, I had I had to spend some time in victim mentality, I really did. And that comes along with having chronic anything, I got to be honest, okay, this poor me, woe is me, oh my gosh, I can't believe why was I chosen for this illness? Why was I chosen to get sepsis? Why was I chosen to have this much anxiety? Right. And that's not going to help move you forward. But we do need to feel that I do believe that we need to feel that that's what we call our shadow side, right. And we need to understand it because it's bringing forward information, it's information about, that's actually doing us a favor, it's coming forward, because it doesn't want to be stuck anymore. It wants to be released, it's ready to be transformed into something else. And so when we dismiss it, we're not going to get the lesson from that, right, we're not going to get a true understanding that our body and our emotions are communicating to us. So. So it's important to not kick yourself to just recognize the victim mentality, allow yourself to gather the lessons from it, and to experience it for a short period of time, but be very, very clear. And boss up with yourself. This is one of the things that I've learned so much from having chronic anything, you're really being called to boss up as more of an authority in your own life. Okay, whether that's your personal life, whether it's taking care of your health and your wellness, prioritizing that number one, first and foremost, okay, and then being able to nourish yourself at every single layer before you commit to all of these freakin obligations and things that you have to do in your life. Because when you're not doing that, you're not loving yourself enough. You're not feeling like you deserve it, right. And there's a clear mindset that comes along with chronic illness or chronic patterns. And there's a clear vibration that comes along with that, too. And so it's important for you to realize that you don't desire that, okay? And you get to choose to move beyond the stories that you've created, or the stories that you've heard from other people around your chronic illness around how you're supposed to move through this or how you're supposed to feel and create an experience around it. That feels really supportive. So for me, I went through denial of No, I don't have a chronic illness, and I can heal this and it's fine. And I still believe that I can heal it over time. But I also realize and have an openness to the fact that it may be part of my purpose to experience this illness for the entirety of my human lifetime. Do I desire that on a conscious level? No. Maybe my soul desires that though. Because think about it. That's still progress in my ancestral line. So many people in my family on both sides have died early from either chronic illness, heart disease, or cancer. I consider cancer a chronic illness as well. Right? And so
15:00
Isn't it huge progress from my ancestral line to be able to live a long life full of vitality and happiness and joy and exuberance?
15:08
Even if I have this
15:11
low level, I'm gonna say low level, I'm speaking that into existence, this low level chronic illness that's occurring in the background, that might be annoying from time to time and encourage me to adjust some of my,
15:22
my lifestyle, and my routine and my choices, which honestly, I'm super grateful for. So it's staying open to the fact that the universe is going to continue to show you what is meant for you, and to be able to shift and accept whatever is being handed to you with a greatest level of joy and an appreciation and acceptance and understanding as possible.
15:46
Okay, so I want you to consider this where you can implement this kind of shift into your life. Now, you know, where do you want to shift? First? Do you want to shift with creating a ritual around something so that you can shift the vibration? Do you want to shift your mindset around it a little bit? Do you want to make different choices around your time, so that you are not putting your energy and all of your spoons into one bucket? Okay, so these are things to consider. And also realizing that when we heal anything chronic, it needs to be healed at multiple layers, okay, multiple layers, it's not enough to just go to therapy, it's not enough to just go to the doctor and take a pill, that's not going to fit to to bring you the solution that you're truly looking for. If you're somebody who was drawn to this podcast, if you're somebody who's listening to this, I guarantee you that you have a field that is very open to thinking outside of the traditional way. Okay, and I encourage you to do that. And your body and your emotions and your energy are the best guides for you. No matter what Coach, what Doctor, what therapist gives you guidance, including myself, you need to take all of it, place it on the table, lay it out for yourself, sit down and meditate with it. Consider how this aligns with your field and what feels expansive. Okay, and that's how we tell the difference of where we're meant to go. Does it feel expansive, and like a whole new world has just opened up for you? Or does it feel restrictive.
17:15
And we can feel resistance in our bodies when we start to make change. But it's sitting with that and allowing ourselves to see if that softens, okay. And our timeline of when we achieve these things is not our own. Okay, you just start taking inspired action steps toward what feels desirable toward what feels aligned. And then everything is going to start falling into place, you're going to start noticing those messages more from the universe, and you're going to be able to take care of yourself better.
